On Tuesday, Oct. 25, Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) celebrated 95 Carleton faculty members, contract instructors, teaching assistants and graduate students who have dedicated their time to enhancing the teaching and learning experience at the university.
At its annual certificate program graduation celebration, TLS honoured graduates of the Certificate in University Teaching (CUT), the Certificate in Blended and Online Teaching (CBOT), the Preparing to Teach certificate (PTT), and the Certificate in TA Skills (CTAS).
Facilitated by 3M national teaching fellow, Dr. Anthony Marini, the CUT program features a microteaching component and gives participants the opportunity to develop their teaching skills and explore new approaches to instruction.
The first program of its kind in Ontario, CBOT aims to help participants develop the necessary skills and confidence to develop and teach blended and online courses.
PTT is designed to help PhD candidates prepare for the teaching components of a career in academia, while CTAS is a self-directed program designed to recognize and encourage pedagogical training and improve teaching assistants’ confidence and skills.
