Kahente Horn-Miller is an Associate Professor in the School of Indigenous and Canadian Studies and currently holds the inaugural position of Assistant Vice-President (Indigenous Initiatives). Since starting at Carleton in 2014, she has worked to implement several Indigenous initiatives such as successfully advocating for the name change of her department from the School of Canadian Studies to the School of Indigenous and Canadian Studies, the Collaborative Indigenous Learning Bundles, Indigenous Learning Place consultations and the Carleton University Strategic Indigenous Initiatives Committee consultations which culminated in the Kinàmàgawin Report.
Kahente is the chosen recipient of the 2021 Provost’s Fellowship in Teaching Award for her ongoing commitment to fostering relationships and engagement between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples that go beyond the written word, classroom and research settings. She has also been designated as a Carleton University teaching fellow.
