FUSION Skills Development Community of Practice
October 22, 2021 at 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM
| Cost: | Free |
The Experiential Learning/FUSION Network team at Teaching and Learning Services invites faculty, instructors, staff, program coordinators, supervisors, and students to join the FUSION Skills Development Community of Practice on October 22, Friday, from 12:30 to 2 pm. This TLS/EL/FUSION session will be an opportunity to connect with instructors and facilitators at Carleton who are incorporating FUSION into their courses, research, and community engagement initiatives. We may have participants from all six universities that are part of the FUSION National Network project to share their experiences. This session will start with a short introduction by Dr. Morgan Roney (Carleton – TLS) that can help instructors design learning outcomes and rubrics for academic courses aligned with the FUSION curriculum. The participants will explore the TLS resources available to support the implementation of the FUSION experiential learning program. Instructors will discuss alternatives approaches to advance skills development or experiential learning in their courses, such as the workbook, drop-in sessions, workshops, and the FUSION career portfolio. Also, will discuss the TLS Experiential Learning Showcase in November (November 08 to 12) and the FUSION Symposium, all at Carleton!
If you are a staff or instructor at Carleton University, please self-enroll into the FUSION Facilitator Portal and explore the curriculum and wraparound support for instructors and students before the session. For more information about FUSION in general, please consult our webpage.
In preparation for the session, please consider the following questions:
- In a rapidly changing and diverse world, what do students need to get the best out of their university experiences?
- Why is it essential that university students learn to communicate, respect diversity, solve complex problems, and develop metacognition skills?
- What are your experiences with skills development and experiential learning in your classroom?
- How to design learning outcomes and rubrics aligned with the FUSION modules and additional activities?
- What lessons can you learn from instructors and students that are part of a curricular FUSION implementation at Carleton University?
- What pedagogical approaches and technical support are necessary to expand students’ learning engagement with the FUSION curriculum?
- What are the next steps for the FUSION EL Project at Carleton and the Network?
Space is limited. Please register in advance by filling out the form below.
