South Africa-Canada Universities Network Joint Workshop and MoU Signing
November 20, 2025 at 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
| Location: | Future Learning Lab - Fourth Floor MacOdrum Library |
South Africa-Canada research collaboration has developed and deepened over the past three decades, contributing significantly to post-apartheid research and innovation policy development. Carleton University is the anchor institution for the recently established South Africa-Canada Universities Network (SACUN), which has been working with the South African National Research Foundation (NRF) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) through the Canada Research Coordinating Committee (CRCC) to advance a set of initiatives to strengthen research cooperation.
As a next step in advancing this collaboration, on Nov. 20 the NRF and SSHRC will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Carleton and introduce a joint call for seed funding.
This event will celebrate South African and Canadian researchers and identify synergistic opportunities under the current priority themes. Please join us for this important milestone and learn more about opportunities to develop international collaborations with South African universities.
