Once again… Kim Hellmans, chair of Neuroscience, came to our team with an idea to create a video focusing on the stigma around opioids and the effects it has on the human brain. Our team worked in collaboration with CAPSA to develop a script and visual treatments to follow the story of a person struggling with addiction.

How Trauma Impacts the Brain: Reducing Stigma Around Addiction and Substance Use
Effets des traumatismes sur le cerveau et stigmatisation des dépendances et de l’usage de substances
Kim Hellemans, chair of Neuroscience, came to us with a script exploring the stigma surrounding addiction and the impact of childhood trauma on the brain. Visual treatments were developed in a collaborative effort with Prof. Hellemans and two student scriptwriters. Through this animation, we are able to view someone’s story through a very unique lens.

ELG (Experiential Learning Group) was looking for another video to add to their series of content, showcasing the power of learning by doing. Enter Professor Mukhtar’s EU conference simulation. His Government and Politics European Integration class created a panel simulation where they debated on real topics, supervised by actual ambassadors. The School of Public Policy and Administration wanted to highlight their end of year project with a video to showcase their graduate students in the thick of it. Capstone is designed to give students a real-life issue (in this case the opioid epidemic) to test how they work together and come up with new solutions. We highlighted the students’ intense four-day sprint as they coordinated, planned and presented their ideas to the likes of former Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty!
