Kenta Asakura
With extensive training and background in contemporary psychodynamic theory and practice, Dr. Kenta Asakura is an Associate Professor in the School of Social Work. Since joining the department in 2015, he has established himself as leader in social work pedagogy and his influence has reached beyond the School, into social work education, literature and the greater Carleton community.
Dr. Asakura is well respected by both his students and colleagues, and has shown significant leadership in redefining, articulating and designing the graduate education program in his department. His contributions to the field focus on three areas – simulation-based learning, new technologies and field education.
In 2018, Dr. Asakura was awarded Carleton’s New Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award for his commitment to teaching excellence and innovation.
