Kevin Cheung
Kevin Cheung is an associate professor at Carleton University in the School of Mathematics and Statistics. He completed his PhD at the University of Waterloo in the Department of Combinatorial Optimization. Soon after that, he spent two years at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow.
In addition to discrete optimization, his academic interests include designing and developing teaching tools and utilizing technology to help students attain a firm understanding of the subject matter. He teaches this by example, using YouTube to teach students math virtually and to bolster his students’ understanding with this accessible online tool.
His mastery of combining technology and education earned him a Carleton University Teaching with Technology Award in 2013 and a Capital Educators’ Award in 2014, which recognizes excellence in teaching in the Ottawa region.
In 2018, Kevin Cheung was awarded the Carleton University Excellence in Blended and Online Teaching Award.
