Mary Francoli
Mary Francoli is a professor in the School of Journalism and Communications at Carleton. In 2012, she won the New Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award for a teaching philosophy that is guided by the golden rule that places a positive academic and industry-applicable learning experience as its goal.
The communications professor has been teaching at Carleton since 2005, although Mary was not always in that field of study. In fact, Mary completed a PhD in political science soon after her master’s degree, though, always with teaching in mind.
Now, as the undergraduate supervisor for communications, Mary supports new students and helps oversee various departmental responsibilities, from honours essays to international students. With this position, Mary can realize her lifelong dream of equipping the next generation with the mentorship that is needed to encourage a successful student body.
