We would like to formally invite high school teachers from across the three local school boards: Upper Canada District School Board, Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, and Ottawa Catholic School Board to attend the annual one-day Teachers’ Workshop on February 18, 2022, from 9-11:55 am, via Zoom.
Designed to assist with their classroom programming, our goal is to augment teachers’ knowledge of the significant political, economic, and cultural challenges facing the EU and European countries and Canada-Europe relations.
The workshop presentations will include an overview of the history of the EU and enriched modules on a range of topics which may include:
- Causes and consequences of Brexit
- EU trade relations
- The recently signed Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between Europe and Canada
- EU responses to the refugee crisis
- EU and the right-wing populist movement
- EU and the law
Once you have registered, you will be provided with an email as well as a draft agenda. Please feel free to share this invitation with any fellow teacher and supply teachers who would be interested in attending.
This is an activity of the Centre for European Studies Jean Monnet Project Studying EU in Canadian High Schools co-funded by a grant from the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union and by Carleton University.
