ESP Academic Coaches

The Centre for Initiatives in Education (CIE) hires qualified upper year and graduate students to coach students in the Enriched Support Program (ESP).
Academic Coaches do outreach in ESP first-year seminars and workshops and book appointments with students one-on-one to coach them academically both online and in-person.

Available positions
Our application to apply to be a coach in 2026-27 will open at 4:30 pm EST on Wed. Feb. 4, 2026.

Below is a list of positions for which we are hiring for 2026-2027. We will update this section throughout the hiring period with the current status of each position.
Note: all Academic Coach positions are subject to budgetary approval.

Weekly Hours and Pay Rate
- The pay rate is $23/hour (plus 4% vacation pay). All time spent in training is paid.
- Approximately 5-6 hours per week. Hours may be reduced at certain times of the year; ESP Academic Coaches do not work during the university shutdown periods or academic break weeks.
Coach Qualifications
- Please note that coaches must be able to work in-person from September 2, 2026 to April 30, 2027.
- Coaches must be current students (enrolled in classes in Fall 2026 and Winter 2027) in either an undergraduate or graduate program.
- Coaches must be able to attend mandatory in-person pre-service training:
- September 2, 2026 (all day)
- September 3, 2026 (all day)
- September 8, 2026 (morning)
- Coaches must be able to attend mandatory in-person in-service training most Fridays 3:00pm-4:30pm in the Fall and Winter terms (not including academic breaks, exam periods, or statutory holidays).
