All Carleton University departments that accept credit card payments must be compliant with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Standards. These standards ensure the ongoing protection of cardholder data and protects Carleton University from adverse financial consequences.
Merchants – those who process, store, or transmit credit card information – may be required to change the way they process credit card information. This will result in better control over operations and a better model, including a mechanism to train new employees.
Customers – anyone who makes a credit card purchase from a campus vendor – will experience little to no impact. This change will be aligned with current best practices. This will result in a standardized service that guarantees protection of their information.
The PCI compliance program at Carleton will include new standards which merchants must adhere to, training for merchants (dates to be announced soon), and an option to take advantage of Carleton’s new in house web based E-Commerce solution.
