Sent to all BCS students on behalf of CUSA Foot Patrol

Hi Computer Science students!

Do you or someone you know need assistance due to impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic? The Carleton University Students’ Association has implemented a COVID-19 response framework consisting of several new services to better support you – it’s members.

Hardship Fund: An emergency grant awarded as a one time payment for those experiencing urgent financial need. Expected turnaround is 3 business days. Click here for more information and to apply.

Urgent Emergency Support: For short term immediate or personalized emergency support please complete the Foot Patrol COVID-19 Emergency Response Form. Expected turnaround is under 24 hours.

Food Centre Hamper Delivery: The CUSA Food Centre provides food-related support to Carleton students. A hamper delivery option has been added in collaboration with Foot Patrol if you don’t feel comfortable accessing the Food Centre on campus. Resources may be in limited supply. Complete the following Hamper Request form. Expected turnaround is 3 business days.

If you’d like to talk or text with someone, existing services can help!

Walk and Talk phone line (6 PM – 2 AM, 7 days a week)*: Give a Foot Patrol volunteer a call at 613-520-4449 if you feel unsafe while walking anywhere, or if you’re bored, lonely, or feel isolated and want someone to talk to.

Walk and Talk texting line (6 PM – 2 AM, 7 days a week)**: If you prefer chatting over text and are feeling bored, lonely, or isolated, you can text Foot Patrol at 343-883-8169.

Empower Me: 24/7 tele-counselling support that connects you to a trained crisis counsellor and is available for a variety of situations and issues for all undergraduate students. 1-833-628-5589 | FAQ

* Foot Patrol is not a crisis line. If you are in distress, please call Empower Me, the Ottawa Distress Centre at 613-238-3311, or your regional crisis hotline.

** The Walk and Talk texting line is a temporary service addition due to COVID-19 and will be disabled once regular services resume.

Best,

Liam and Neeni
