Hello,

My name is Tara Thachet and I am a fourth year undergraduate student in Neuroscience at Carleton University. Along with my supervisor, Dr. Martha Mullally, and other members of our research team including Dr. Roslyn Dakin, Dr. Jenny Bruin, Dr. Kim Hellemans, and Dr. Alex Wong; I am writing to invite you to participate in a research study investigating Faculty perceptions of student identity.

This study is a 33 question, online multiple-choice survey that takes about 15-20 minutes to complete. To participate in this study, you must meet the following criteria:

·   Completed at least 1 year of studies as an undergraduate student in the Faculty of Science

·   Speak English

There are minimal risks associated with participating in this survey. All responses from this survey will be anonymized and all the research data including the survey responses will be password protected. The disaggregated data will only be accessible by the researcher and the research team. Only the aggregate data will be presented in published findings. This project has been funded by the Office of the Dean of Science and our findings will be presented to them. You may withdraw from the study at any time during the survey simply by closing the browser or the survey window before submitting the survey.

By completing the survey, you may choose to enter a draw to win 1 of 3 $100 Amazon or Starbucks gift cards. The winner will be selected randomly when the survey closes on December 31st, 2021. Email addresses will be used only for the draw and will be deleted after the draw is complete. Entry in the draw is optional and you may choose to participate in the survey without entering the draw. This survey will help inform the Office the Dean of Science and the Carleton Science community with actionable feedback and recommendations to help improve equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), and lower barriers for historically underrepresented groups in the Faculty of Science. We will also share a summary of our findings with the greater Carleton community so participants can learn about the findings of this study.
