Undergraduate students are invited to take part in an International Research Mobility Experience (IRME) with funded internships in Colombia and Mexico. Students can choose from research opportunities in various disciplines, including mathematics, computer science, engineering, sociology, history, chemistry, physics, business, and more.

For further details, a list of available projects, and to submit an Expression of Interest, please go to the International Research Mobility Experience (IRME) webpage here.  Many new projects were just posted and more will be added shortly. Although, the projects indicate preferred dates and duration of the internships (typically 3-4 months), most of these are flexible and negotiable. Shorter internships are available. All internships must take place before January 2025.

The amount of funding is dependent on the length of the internship, with a minimum of $6000 for 12 weeks, and additional funding is provided to indigenous students, low-income students, and students with disabilities. Please also note that the Mitacs co-funding is not available to Carleton students; however, the basic funding should be sufficient to cover major expenses.

This opportunity is offered by Carleton International, CALAREO, and the Global Skills Opportunity program.  If you have any questions or need assistance, please email mobility.programs@carleton.ca (include your name, student number, program, and year of study in the email).
