Student Orientation

Carleton offers a variety of orientation programs to help ensure a successful transition into university. Below is a brief overview of which programs are available.

Summer Orientation

Summer Orientation is a program designed for new students and their parent(s).  Each one-day Summer Orientation session is designed to promote the student’s personal academic success and individual development.  Students will participate in a series of informative presentations, receive a campus tour and learn from student leaders about their experience as students at Carleton. The program also strives to help parents by assuring them of the various supports available to their students. The Summer Orientation sessions take place on Fridays and Saturdays during August.

Fall Orientation

Fall Orientation provides incoming students with a week packed full of fun activities, a chance to make new friends, and an opportunity to gain the necessary skills to help transition to university life at Carleton University. Fall Orientation offers four different streams; EngFrosh, SciFrosh, Sprosh, and Central.  Participants who enroll are automatically placed in their proper stream based on program of study. A schedule of events will be posted mid-July.

Academic Orientation Day

Academic Orientation Day (AOD) takes place prior to the start of classes in September and is hosted by the Centre for Student Academic Support (CSAS).

AOD is designed to welcome and inspire first-year students as they begin their university experience. The day includes a Faculty Orientation session, Department Open Houses, and the opportunity to meet upper year students from your course of study.

Audience:

Participation is mandatory for all new undergraduate Carleton students.

Expo Carleton

Expo Carleton takes place prior to the start of classes in September.

Expo Carleton welcomes all students and showcases the diversity in the clubs, societies, and services that our university has to offer.  This is the perfect opportunity for student to connect with various groups on campus, find out what they are all about, and discover way to get involved.

Open to all undergraduate students

I-Start Orientation

Attend I-Start, the orientation for all new international students at Carleton University, and receive resources and information that will help you transition successfully to student life at Carleton and in Canada. This orientation has been designed to meet the needs of all international students, including undergraduate, graduate, exchange, and study abroad students.

International Orientation Day

International Orientation Day is designed for all new international students at Carleton University with a full day of engaging events, workshops, and activities designed to help international students transition to student life at Carleton University as hosted by the International Student Services Office (ISSO).

Upper Year Event Package

Upper Year Event Package is geared towards returning undergraduate students to assist them with the transition back to campus. This year we have a great line up of events for returning students to welcome you to campus. The week will provide you with an opportunity to meet fellow students and gain the skills necessary to continue to be successful at Carleton. This is an opportunity you don’t want to miss out on!

CUSA Frosh for All

Carleton University Student Association (CUSA) are hosting events throughout the first week of the fall term for incoming first year students as part of their Frosh for All campaign. Event highlights include laser tag, jeopardy, drag show, and frosh-olympics.
