The School of Linguistics and Language Studies at Carleton University offers the following undergraduate programs:
Linguistics
Concerned with the formal description and analysis of language
Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies
Focused on language use in social and educational settings
Minors
Minors in American Sign Language, German, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Spanish are open to all undergraduate degree students. Students interested in being admitted to the Italian minor must meet with the School Director and receive written permission. Other Possibilities
The Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language (CTESL) can be done either concurrently with a BA Honours in Linguistics or in Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies, or as a post-degree certificate.
The Bachelor of Global and International Studies program offers a stream and specialization in Teaching English in Global Contexts (TEGC).
