Livia has over 20 years’ experience in development research, project design and implementation at the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD). Livia works on various projects in different countries in Africa, Central America and South-East Asia. Livia has developed her understating of sustainable development and climate change issues during her postdoctoral studies at the Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability (IRES) of the University of British Columbia (UBC).

Livia has a keen interest in international development, development studies, inclusive governance and sustainable development including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She brings practical expertise in development theory and practice, development policy and programming for diverse Canadian agencies including Environment and Climate change Canada (ECCC), Global Affairs Canada (GAC), International Development Research Centre (IDRC),  Cooperation Canada and international agencies including the World Bank, UNEP, UNDP, UNECE and FAO. Livia has been involved in development initiatives on agriculture, environmental management, governance, indicator system design. Livia’s work has been published in diverse peer-reviewed journals including Global Food Security, Nature food, Nature Sustainability, Regional Environmental Change, Mitigation and Adaptation Strategies for Global Change, Climate and Development, Climate Policy and others.

Livia has completed her post-doctoral experience at the University of British Columbia (UBC).  She holds a PhD. in economic forecasting from University of Economics, Bratislava, Slovakia.
