International SOS Travel Support

Support for BGInS students during their IER

Carleton University is partnering with International SOS to offer students  24/7 access to medical, safety and security advice, and emotional support, when travelling or living abroad.  All of these services are FREE for BGInS students participating in the International Experience Requirement. We strongly recommend that you take advantage of this travel support network.

Here are some examples of scenarios in which you can get support:

How to access International SOS:

Step 1: Download the app

Go to your Smartphone browser and enter http://app.internationalsos.com to download the app.

The International SOS app has a direct dial button. You can access International SOS by phone or text messaging at any point on your experience.

Step 2: Set up your profile

You must set up your profile using your Carleton University email address.  Your family are welcome to call International SOS for information if they have concerns while you are away. Your confidential information will not be shared without your permission.

Step 3: Upload your flight information

Forward your flight e-ticket from your university email address to mytrips@travelsecurity.com. Once this is done, you will receive a Pre-Trip Advisory for the country/ies that you are visiting.  You will also be registered for email alerts specific to your destination/s. If you use the ‘check in’ function on the App, you will also receive security advice specific to your immediate location.
