Peter MedwaySLaLS notes with great sadness, the passing of Dr. Peter “Pete” Medway, former professor in Linguistics and Applied Language Studies and important contributor to the School for more than a decade.

Dr. Medway was an active researcher, in particular with colleague Dr. Aviva Freedman, contributing much to early work in the field of genre studies at Carleton.  He will be remembered for his scholarship and for the indelible imprint he left on many of the students and faculty with whom he collaborated.

Dr. Medway left Carleton in 2002 in order to take up a position at King’s College London.  Prior to Carleton, he lectured in the School of Education at the University of Leeds.
