Natasha standing at a podiumDr. Natasha Artemeva was in Córdoba, Argentina in mid-September to participate in the 10th International Symposium on the Study of Textual/Discourse Genres (SIGET X) at the National University of Córdoba.

Her keynote address“Diagnostic assessment and genre awareness in a Canadian engineering program: Undergraduate students writing in response to multiple nested contexts,” was based on a book that she and Dr. Janna Fox are currently working on.

As part of X SIGET, Natasha also co-organized (with former visiting scholar Dr. Vera Lúcia Cristovão, Brazil) a thematic symposium “Multiliteracies and Diversity in Today’s Higher Education: Students, teachers, disciplines, and genres” during which ALDS PhD student Jacquie Ballantine presented her research-in-progress “Towards a Socio-Cultural, Non-Deficit Perspective on Academic Writing by University Students with Autism.”
