SLaLS welcomes returning alumna Dr. Rachelle Vessey to a tenure track position in Applied Linguistics & Discourse Studies effective July 2020. Since earning her MA in Applied Language Studies at Carleton in 2009, Rachelle has gone on to complete a PhD in linguistics at Queen Mary (University of London) and has held positions at Newcastle University (2013-2016) and Birkbeck (University of London). She teaches and researches in the areas of applied linguistics, discourse studies, corpus linguistics, language ideology, cross-cultural communication, and language in the media.
