Guillaume Gentil walks the translanguaging talk in his recent article“Translanguaging and Multilingual Academic Literacies: How Do We Translate That into French? Should We? Pour en faire quoi ? (et pourquoi s’en faire?)”.

The article, which alternates between French and English (with strategies for non-French readers to follow along), is an attempt to bridge the gap between Francophone and Anglophone scholarship and explore plurilingual alternatives to monolingualism and the hegemony of English in academic publications including, ironically, the fields of multilingual education, and, increasingly, translation studies.

Based on a plenary given at CCERBAL 2018, the article seeks a deeper understanding of translanguaging as both a concept and approach to bilingual education by examining the notion through more than just a single linguistic lens.
