Carleton Students Shine at the Annual Japanese Speech Contest

On March 4th, 11 Carleton students enrolled in Japanese courses in SLaLS competed in the 33rd annual Japanese Language Speech Contest in Ottawa. The competition was held virtually and livestreamed via the Embassy of Japan’s Facebook page. The contestants were divided into three categories: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. The topics of the speeches were chosen by each contestant. Some spoke about their interests in Japan and Japanese culture, while others shared personal experiences or thoughts.

Dilys Jiang participated in the 33rd Canada National Japanese Speech Contest held at the University of Alberta in-person on March 27th representing the Ottawa region.
