Saturday, March 4, 2023 13:30- (Doors open at 13:00)On March 4th, the 34th Annual Japanese Speech Contest will be held in the auditorium of the Japanese Embassy in Ottawa. After being held online for the previous two years, the event will be in-person this year.

The contestants are students studying the language at institutions in Ottawa and the Kingston region. There are four levels: beginner, intermediate, advanced, and open. Contestants choose the topics for their speeches. Some share personal experiences or thoughts, while others talk about their interests in Japan and Japanese cultures.

Some Carleton students currently enrolled in various levels of JAPA courses will deliver speeches in each category.

The event is FREE and open to the public.
