PhD
Building on our Master of Social Work program that emphasizes critical analysis of practice and policy, the PhD focuses on social work education, practice, social welfare and social justice. It is designed to support scholarship that aims to redress social inequities and advance social justice.
PhD students develop the critical skills and knowledge to tackle pressing social issues by drawing on current and emerging critical social work scholarship as well as perspectives from related areas of study. These objectives are met through a combination of course work and independent study and research.
Our PhD program requires full-time enrollment and an interest in working with critical approaches to social work. It is designed to prepare students for careers in teaching, research and leadership in the fields of social work and social welfare. Our program is offered on campus, in-person.
