Dr. M. Kamari Clarke has been hired at the rank of Associate Professor as the first BGInS core faculty member, beginning July 1, 2015. Prof. Clarke’s previous academic appointments were at Yale University and the University of Pennsylvania. She has a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, an M.A. in Anthropology from the New School for Social Research, an M.S.L Law from Yale University, and a B.A. in Political Science and International Relations from Concordia University. She has published widely on a range of topics including human rights; international courts and tribunals; the export, spread, rejection and re-contextualization of international norms; secularism and religious transnationalism; United Nations and African Union treaty negotiations; and Africa’s insertion into international law circuits.
