This news posting is intended for second year and above BGInS students.
As you know, Carleton has been subjected to a denial of service attack which has shut down many computer systems on campus. Systems are being restored, but it may be a few days yet before all campus computer systems are fully operational.
In light of this, we have extended the International Experience Requirement (IER) application deadline for the three options that had a deadline later this week – international exchange, international placement and GINS 3200, Experiential Learning Abroad. The new deadline for these three options is now Wednesday, December 7th, at 4 pm. Please note the following:
- The other three options – Letter of Permission, Carleton Course Taught Abroad, and GINS 3100, Global and International Group Project – have separate deadlines of their own. Please see the “Apply Now” page on the BGInS website for details on the applicable deadlines for these options.
- For both international placement and international exchange, Dec. 7th is the deadline to apply to the option. Once accepted into the option, you will apply during the winter term to specific employers (placement) or universities (exchange). For full details on the application process for these two options please go to: applying to international placement or to international exchange.
- For GINS 3200, Experiential Learning Abroad, Dec. 7th is the deadline to apply for the course offering in Belize in the early summer 2017 term.
- For Global Politics students only: If you are intending to do GPOL 3100, Internship in Global Politics, separate deadlines also apply to you. You do not need to apply by Dec. 7th. For full information, go to GPOL 3100, Internship in Global Politics, on our website.
We also wanted to remind all of you about the IER Bursary. All BGInS students doing the IER are eligible to receive a bursary of between $500 and $2,500, depending on your need. Applications are open from early February to June 30. Be sure to apply! For full details, go IER Bursary on our website.
