About the position:

Arthur Kroeger College, in the Faculty of Public Affairs at Carleton University, invites applications from qualified candidates for a preliminary appointment in global and international studies at the rank of Instructor I, beginning July 1, 2017. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and supervise students in the field of global and international studies. The annual teaching load will be five term-­length courses, which will normally include GINS 3100, Global and International Group Project, plus four other GINS courses assigned by the Program Director. Successful candidates for this position must be able to teach at least one of following GINS core courses: GINS 2000, Ethics and Globalization; GINS 2020, Global Literatures; or GINS 3020, Places, Boundaries, Movements and Global Environmental Change. Here is a listing of all the GINS courses in the Undergraduate Calendar. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to provide academic supervision of the international placement option within the Bachelor of Global and International Studies (BGInS) degree. Full information on the international placement option can be found on the BGInS website. There are no research expectations associated with this position.

Qualifications:

At the time of appointment, applicants should have a completed Ph.D. (or expected to be completed prior to July 2017) in any area of the social sciences or humanities relevant to global and international studies. Candidates must indicate which GINS courses they are able to teach and provide a plan of how they would teach at least one of the three core courses named above. The ideal candidate will have an established strong record of teaching in a field related to global and international studies. Candidates should be committed to a multidisciplinary approach to global and international studies; related global and international experience in the public or private sector is an asset.
