What is the SOAR Student Leadership Conference?

This is an opportunity to develop and enhance personal philosophy of leadership that includes understanding oneself, others, and the community. It focuses on the evolution of delegates into even better leaders. This event which is tailored to both experienced and novice leaders is aimed to challenge delegates into opening their minds to new notions about how leadership should be.

Why should I attend this conference?

The SOAR Student Leadership Conference is a great opportunity to build leadership skills, as well as network with other leaders within Carleton and professionals in the Ottawa community. The skills developed at this conference will also carry forward in future careers and can be added to your Co-Curricular Record.

When is the SOAR Conference?

SOAR 2023 will take place on January 28th, 2023.

Who is involved with the SOAR planning?

The SOAR Student Leadership Conference would not be possible without the dedication of its many sponsors!

A team of dedicated students from the Student Experience Office also supports the ongoing development of the conference.

What should I bring with me?

As SOAR 2023 will be held in-person, delegates are encouraged to bring a pen and notebook with them to take notes throughout the day. While lunch will be provided, delegates are also encouraged to bring snacks and a reusable water bottle to stay energized throughout the day.

What types of workshops will be held?

There will be a variety of different themes included in each workshop including personal skill development areas, exploring leadership development and one’s philosophy on leadership, as well as discussing the best practices to get involved and take advantage of Carleton’s activities throughout the year.

Who is the keynote speaker?

Our keynote speaker for SOAR 2023 will be Sarain Fox

How much does the Conference cost?

This year’s SOAR ticket is $10 +tax.

I would like to attend. How do I register as a delegate?

Registration is now SOLD OUT.

How can I volunteer at SOAR 2023?

Applications to volunteer at SOAR will open in December. If you have any questions, please contact us at leadership@carleton.ca

What if I cannot attend all SOAR sessions?

If you have any special accommodations requests, please advise us on the registration form or email leadership@carleton.ca and someone will address your situation in a timely fashion.
