For 2014/2015, FASS is sponsoring a series of short lectures featuring junior scholars whose research may not yet be well known across the campus. FASSinating Research/ers offers an opportunity to learn more about the exciting research initiatives of our new colleagues.

Our third speaker in the lecture series is Dr. Eva Kartchava, Assistant Professor of Applied Linguistics and TESL School of Linguistics and Language Studies. In this talk, Dr. Kartchava will focus on the concept of error and the role it plays in the acquisition of second/additional languages. Dr. Kartchava will also examine currently employed approaches to dealing with linguistic errors and consider their effectiveness from the perspective of both teachers and learners. The talk will draw on examples from actual language classrooms.
