On Feb. 2, Mike Murphy hosted a workshop on using screencasts to provide L2 writing feedback at TESL-Ottawa’s Winter PD Event at Algonquin College. The workshop focused on Mike’s recent adoption of video screen capture technology as a way to respond to writing assignments by his ESLA students. The audience, which included EAL instructors from a variety of contexts, learned about recent research on the benefits of screencasted feedback; Mike’s mostly positive experience using this technology in his class; and preliminary findings from an action research study that Mike is conducting to assess the pedagogical effectiveness of screencasts in his classroom.
