Current Program: PhD in ALDS
I came to Carleton from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (Qc), where I completed my Master’s in Linguistics. In my thesis, I analyzed the way Parliamentarians named and used Indigenous languages when discussing Bill C-91, an Act respecting Indigenous languages (2019). From a critical and decolonial sociolinguistic and discourse analysis perspective, I uncovered contemporary power dynamics within Parliament, related to this work of language planning. For my doctoral project, I plan to pursue in this line of research.
More generally, in my work and research, I take interest in decolonization, practices of resistances, Queer studies, and inclusive writing. I am fascinated by words, meanings, language, and power.
