Current Program: PhD in ALDS
The seeds of interest in discourse analysis had been sown in me, perhaps long before it actually came to my attention, during almost a decade of work experience in news media in my homeland Iran. I became acquainted with Corpus Linguistics and its invaluable contribution to the analysis of language in use during Cognitive Linguistics studies at the University of Siena, Italy. My tremendous fascination with the investigation of the language of the media has led me to become a PhD candidate with the School of Linguistics and Language Studies at Carleton University, Ottawa. My research interests include Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and corpus-assisted analysis of the media representation of minorities.
