SLaLS offers degrees in two areas of concentration at the undergraduate level:
- Linguistics (BA and BSc) – concerned with the formal description and analysis of language
- Applied Linguistics & Discourse Studies – focused on language use in social and educational settings
We also offer minors in the following:
Minors in American Sign Language, German, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Spanish are open to all undergraduate degree students. Students interested in being admitted to the Italian minor must meet with the School Director and receive written permission. The Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language (CTESL) can be done either concurrently with a BA in Linguistics or in ALDS, or as a postgraduate certificate.
The Bachelor of Global and International Studies program offers a stream called Specialization in Teaching English in Global Contexts.
The Professional Writing Program is offered as a collaboration with the Department of English.
