Starting in Fall 2021, TLS will once again be offering its Preparing to Teach (PTT) program. Fully online for Fall 2021, PTT is a blended program specifically designed to help upper-year PhD candidates prepare for the teaching components of a career in academia. This 10-week program, which consists of weekly synchronous 2-3 hour meetings via Zoom plus significant weekly asynchronous components, allows participants to gain hands-on experience with a range of teaching and assessment methods, to learn how to manage both large and small classes, and to address teaching and learning issues particular to their disciplines.
The Fall cohort will be offered on Wednesdays afternoons at 1pm, from September 22 to December 1. Registration opens on July 26 and spots are limited, so be sure to apply at your earliest convenience. Note that one important factor for admission will be the candidate’s schedule and ability to commit to the roughly 10 hours a week that the program requires.
