Spotlight on AI – with Rebecca Renfroe

September 19, 2024 at 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM

Location:481 Future Learning Lab (4th floor), MacOdrum Library
Cost:Free

The “Spotlight on AI” series features speakers from across Carleton’s teaching community talking about the innovative ways that they are responding the challenges posed by generative artificial intelligence (Generative AI). These faculty-led sessions are meant to be informal spaces where colleagues can share and discuss ideas with each other.

In this short presentation and Q&A session, Rebecca Renfroe will explore three innovative ways to incorporate ChatGPT into classroom assignments. First, she will discuss how students can ask ChatGPT to answer a question and then critique its response for accuracy and depth. Next, she will examine how having ChatGPT generate responses from two different perspectives can help students analyze how different lenses influence the answers and what might be overlooked. Finally, she will explore the idea of having ChatGPT generate both an assignment and its solution, with students refining it into a high-quality example before having their peers grade it.
