Carleton’s Future Learning Lab on the fourth Floor of the MacOdrum Library brings educators and students together to share, research and collaborate on innovative teaching and learning activities. The creation of the lab and the Experiential Learning Hub is largely thanks to the investment from the province’s Training Equipment and Renewal Fund, which provided $2 million in funding over two rounds, matched by the university.
The Future Learning Lab is both a physical space and a set of programs designed to foster innovation and incentivize student-centred ways of teaching. In addition to fostering student and instructor partnerships, the lab encourages undergraduate research opportunities and offers innovation grants. The lab provides student-centred physical and virtual spaces for instructors to innovate with pedagogical design, as well as enhanced individual, group and collaborative study spaces for students.
