For the Winter holiday season, Carleton University will be closed from Friday, December 24, 2021 through Tuesday, January 4, 2022 inclusively, and will re-open on Wednesday, January 5, 2022.

We recognize that there may be a need for some staff to work on December 24 to conclude activities associated with the fall term. In these cases, arrangements for a replacement day off are to be made with your supervising manager.

If you are considering taking additional vacation days to extend the holiday period noted above, please ensure you discuss your request with your manager and, if approved, be sure to include all leave on your monthly leave report.

Holiday Building Closures

During the holiday closure period, all campus buildings will be locked. Authorized students, faculty and staff may gain access using their Campus Cards at card readers.

Campus Safety Services (CSS) will provide access to buildings on an “emergency basis only.” The CSS Communication Centre can be reached at 613-520-4444 in emergencies, and 613-520-3612 for general enquiries.

Please be reminded that under orders from the Government of Ontario and guidance from Public Health Ontario and Ottawa Public Health, all COVID-19 protocols and procedures remain in effect. All employees (including faculty, contract instructors, staff and teaching/research assistants) must complete the short COVID-19 Screening Self-Assessment form in cuScreen prior to coming to campus and entering a building, including a restricted access building. This form must be completed every day you come to campus.

Variations of this closure include:

Residence and Dining Services

The following five residence buildings will remain open for the holiday period: Frontenac, Glengarry, Leeds, Lennox and Addington and Prescott. Only those residents who have registered, received permission, and paid to remain will have access to their rooms. Access for all other students will be deactivated as of noon on December 24, 2021, until noon, January 9, 2022. No student will be permitted to remain or enter a closed building.

The last meal served in The Caf will be breakfast which will end at 10:30 a.m. on December 24, 2021. During the closure period, no dining service outlets will be open. Frontenac, Leeds and Prescott are suite-style residences with a meal preparation area in each suite. The first meal served in The Caf for the winter term will be dinner on January 9, 2022.
