Season 2 Episode 1: Getting Involved with Andrew Kellie

Andrew Kellie is a Carleton graduate and arts worker, currently working as the Strategic Initiatives and Special Events Coordinator at the Ottawa Art Gallery. Throughout their studies in a Bachelors of Global & International Studies at Carleton, Andrew was involved with a number of different elements of campus life, from being a Summer Orientation Leader and writing for The Charlatan, to volunteering for the ISSO and the Campus Activity Board – just to name just a few! Now, in their role at the Ottawa Art Gallery, they continue their path of involvement by managing community partnerships and planning events that bring art to the Ottawa public.

In this episode, Andrew explains how to get involved on campus, the benefits of being involved, and how to balance your extracurriculars with your education and personal life.

Season 2 Episode 2: Self-Branding with David Oladejo

David Oladejo is an alumnus of Carleton University with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Business for Engineers. Over his 5 years at Carleton, David was involved in virtually every program offered through the Student Experience Office. In his final year of University, he was elected as the President of the Carleton University Students’ Association, serving in office for the 2018-19 term. After graduating, David moved to Toronto and started working in the tech industry. He’s now an Account Executive for Shopify, enjoying all the benefits that working remotely for a tech company offers. He enjoys travelling every chance that he gets, playing in various city sports leagues, and spending quality time with friends and family.

In this episode, David discusses how he recovered from receiving a vote of no-confidence in his first general CUSA election, the lessons he learned in marketing and advocating for himself, and how he’s since been able to use self-branding in his career today.

Season 2, Episode 3: Academics with Morghan Manuel

Morghan Manuel is an alumnus of Carleton University with a Bachelors of Cognitive Science in Languages and Linguistics and a Minor in Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies. Throughout her degree, Morghan learned to manage her academics alongside her duties as a Residence Fellow, all while maintaining a sustainable work-life balance. She has since recently graduated from Dalhousie University after completing a Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology, and now works as a full time Speech Language Pathologist in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

In this episode, Morghan discusses her academic journey at Carleton and the challenges she faced pursuing such a competitive program while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Season 2, Episode 4: Wellness with Sarah Morse

Sarah Morse is an alumnus of Carleton University with a Bachelors of Science in Neuroscience and Mental Health. Sarah is passionate in the field of primary care where she believes in using holistic and integrative approaches to health and wellness which encouraged her to dive in the field of Naturopathy. She is currently pursuing Doctor of Naturopathy from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine.

In this episode, Sarah discusses what encouraged her to get into Naturopathy and how she bounces between the different areas of her life while taking the time to prioritize her wellness.

Season 2, Episode 5: Leadership with Ye Fang Kuang

Ye Fang Kuang is an alumnus of Carleton University with a Bachelor of Information Technology in Interactive Multimedia and Design. He is passionate in the field of leadership and believes in stepping up and taking accountability for one’s actions. He is currently working as an Information Technology Developer at Canada Revenue Agency.

In this episode, Ye Fang discusses about different approaches to leadership and how to give and receive effective criticism and how to seek out leadership opportunities in university environment.

Season 2, Episode 6: Self-Identity:2SLGBTQIA+ with Jaime Sadgrove

Jaime is a storyteller, community advocate, and Carleton alum (B.CoMS ‘20). They have used their degree and lived experience as a non-binary person to improve trans inclusion and safety at Carleton, manage communications and fundraising for Options Bytown Non-Profit Housing, and to promote the rights and safety of queer and trans youth in their work with the Canadian Centre for Gender & Sexual Diversity (CCGSD).

Jaime is also a performer and theatremaker; they served as co-producer of the Fresh Meat indie theatre festival, and can be seen on stage in choirs and musicals, including with Tone Cluster: Quite a Queer Choir. Jaime recently returned to Carleton’s campus full time in a communications role with the School of Journalism and Communication.

In this episode, Jaime explains self-identity, authentic allyship and ways to show support for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

Season 2, Episode 7: Self-Identity – International Experience with Mariana Queiroz

Mariana Queiroz is an alumnus of Carleton University with a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Psychology. She is eager to spread awareness about the international community and encourage more resources that focus on improving the transition of international students to a new country. Currently, she works as an Outgoing Exchange Coordinator where she plans and implements international-focused events and facilitates cultural-awareness workshops.

In this episode, Mariana Queiroz discusses about her journey as an international student, her challenges and the ways she used to navigate the different experiences.

Season 2, Episode 8: Employability with Emily & Paige

Emily Koch and Paige Kahkonen are both alumni of Carleton University who pursued Bachelor of Journalism. As co-founders of Koch and Kahkonen Communications, they have a strong entrepreneurial and creative spirit. They are passionate about strategic communications, marketing and journalism. Their goal is to create content that is informative, engaging and results-oriented.

In this episode, Emily and Paige dive deep into how they started Koch and Kahkonen Communications, the various challenges they faced along the way and their approach to entrepreneurship.
