On Monday, May 27, Don Myles and Julie McCaroll will share their experiences with assignments in the AI era. The event, “Spotlight on AI,” will be hosted by TLS from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. in room 481 of the MacOdrum Library.

In this session, Don Myles and Julie McCarroll will explore our reality as we attempt to update or reimagine assignments in the AI era, drawing from research on best practices. This presentation originates from an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) meeting discussing how to assess academic writing in an online EAP course. Julie will then discuss how she updated her assessments to respond to or address the students’ use of AI., as well as with her firsthand insights into the realities of teaching EAP online amidst the AI revolution. In the workshop portion of this talk, faculty will have the opportunity to discuss their assignments and receive feedback and support from their colleagues and the presenters.
