Don’t miss your chance to attend academic speed dating with Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) and some of Carleton’s major teaching award winners.

At our TLS Forum on August 27, you’ll have the chance to network and learn from some of Carleton’s (and Canada’s) finest educators in a cracker barrel session. Similar to speed dating, you’ll go from table-to-table at 20-minute intervals and hear four different presentations from Carleton community leaders, including four 3M National Teaching Fellowship winners – Tim Pychyl, Janna Fox, Bob Burk and Adrian Chan.

Other confirmed presenters include Desire2Learn Innovation Award winner Shawn Graham, OCUFA Teaching Award winner Alan Steele as well as Carleton Teaching with Technology winner and Khan Academy Next EDU Guru winner Kevin Cheung.

Choose from a variety of interesting presentations, including:

  • Journalism Idol: Pop Culture and Pedagogy
  • My Kids Eat Broccoli Because That’s What I Give Them
  • Failing Gloriously, or, Teaching and Learning in the Digital Humanities
  • Teaching with YouTube
  • Lights, Camera, Action…PowerPoint!
  • WARNING: The Mentally Ill are Headed to Your Classroom!
  • Awareness, Reflection and Presence in Teaching and Learning: Getting to Know the Self who Teaches
  • One Student at a Time, but in Parallel
  • Creating Inclusive and Safe Classrooms – What Would You Do?
  • Introducing the Discovery Centre
  • Helping At-Risk Students Succeed

See all the abstracts here.

The forum will run from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in the River Building Atrium. Lunch will be provided.
