PhD candidates interested in pursuing a career in academia can now register for the winter 2014 cohort of the EDC’s Preparing to Teach program.
The program consists of nine three-hour sessions during which participants gain hands-on experience with a range of teaching and assessment methods, learn how to manage small and large classes, and address teaching and learning issues particular to their disciplines.
Although informed by theory, the focus will be on teaching practice. Participants will develop new course materials and try out various teaching approaches within a supportive peer environment.
The winter cohort of the program will run Tuesdays from 1 – 4 p.m. beginning January 28 and ending April 1. There will be no class during the winter reading week (Feb. 17-21).
