Recently, the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities altered the guidelines for ancillary fees that can be charged to students for technology enhanced learning resources in the classroom. Those guidelines now require all universities to establish an official policy about such fees.

In response, Carleton has recently approved a new policy suggested by the Teaching and Learning Computing Committee that will take effect January 1, 2016. The new guidelines outlined in the policy will affect all students and instructors who are using technology enhanced learning resources. In establishing these guidelines, the university acknowledges that it is the responsibility of instructors to determine what resources are most appropriate in supporting students’ learning.

The full policy is posted on the Secretariat’s website. If you have any questions, please contact us at oavptl@carleton.ca.
