The Web and social media offer unprecedented connectivity but, without conscious effort, can insulate people from everyone but “friends” and from ideas that might challenge strongly-held beliefs.

During the 2016 Discovery Lecture on Thursday, Feb. 25, blogger and Pace University communications professor Andrew Revkin will describe extraordinary innovations showing how bottom-up and peer-to-peer communication can fill gaps as old information gatekeepers, from sage broadcasters to newspaper front pages (to university professors) lose influence.

The lecture will begin at 7 p.m. in the River Building’s second level conference rooms. Register for the event here.
