The end of the term is always busy: you’re calculating, finalizing and submitting grades, meeting with your TAs one last time and making grade changes when necessary. After the course ends, however, what happens to your course on cuLearn? From a technological perspective, how do you ‘end’ your course on cuLearn?

Our educational technology team has developed an end-of-term checklist to help answer these questions:

  • Download your gradebook in order to keep an archived copy of student grades (for instructions on how to export your gradebook to Excel, please contact a member of our EdTech team or review our step-by-step instructions).
  • Send a wrap-up message to your students (you can use the email function on cuLearn or the Announcements/News Forum for this purpose).
  • Hide your course (review our instructions for hiding your course here).
  • Reflect! Take some time to reflect on how well the course went. Record a few things that went well and a few things that could be improved, as well as what you would like to change/adapt/modify. Taking the time to engage in the reflective process will help jog your memory further down the road when you’re planning the next iteration of the course.
  • Keep a list of online activities (quizzes, assignments, databases, etc.) and course settings that work well for your course. It’s easy to forget these activities (and course settings) when you’ve been away from cuLearn for a while!
  • Remember: If at any time you need assistance or have ideas for your course but aren’t sure how to implement them on cuLearn, we encourage you to make an appointment with a member of the EdTech team; we are here to help!
