How we learn is shaped by how the human mind works. As a consequence, we need to carefully utilize a variety of teaching and learning media – words, pictures, sounds – to promote effective learning.
Join us on Feb. 19 from 1-4 p.m. for a workshop that will introduce the basics of the cognitive theory of multimedia learning (CTML). We’ll discuss how we can apply the principles derived from it when designing instruction, whether we teach a live class, use presentation slides or design online lessons.
Working in groups, you’ll analyze provided examples of learning with multimedia, and suggest improvements based on the examined principles. You’ll leave this session with practical skills that will inspire you to rethink how to effectively use multimedia in your teaching for the benefit of your learners.
