Carleton has partnered with the University of Ottawa to establish the new Shared Online Projects Initiative (SOPI), which will allow online module and course development to be shared between the institutions for the Fall 2020 term. The initiative is being launched in response to the necessary shift to online teaching due to the current public health crisis.
This innovative, cross-institutional initiative provides instructors with grants of up to $8,000 each to work with colleagues at the partner university in developing online courses or modules. Through this collaborative work, instructors will have more flexibility in delivering courses and programs, while providing high-quality learning experiences for students across both institutions. Grant recipients will be fully supported by instructional designers, educational technologists and librarians from the participating institutions during the design and development phase of their online projects.
We are proud to join this partnership that provides further investment in our capacity to deliver an online learning experience where students and instructors alike can excel. Carleton provides a number of resources and extensive support for instructors designing courses for online teaching. This collaborative initiative will benefit instructional staff and students at both institutions as we prepare to deliver all courses remotely in the Fall semester.
