When we come together as a teaching community, we often highlight effective strategies and successes. However, even the most esteemed educators have faced challenges, including what some may refer to as occasional ‘colossal failures’ (Strean, Brooks & Maher, 2019).

We invite you to join us for an engaging in-person panel hosted by Maristela Petrovic-Dzerdz and Jared Robinson and featuring Carleton’s award-winning faculty:

Kahente Horn-Miller (3M National Teaching Fellow), Associate Vice-President, Indigenous Teaching, Learning and Research, Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies

Alan Steele (3M National Teaching Fellow), Associate Professor, Faculty of Engineering and Design

Peggy Hartwick (D2L Innovation Award in Teaching & Learning), Assistant Professor, School of Linguistics and Language Studies

Vincent Andrisani (Future Learning Innovation Fellow 2023-24, Faculty of Public Affairs Teaching Excellence Award 2023), Associate Professor, School of Journalism and Communication

Our panelists will candidly share their experiences of facing obstacles in their teaching journeys. Through reflection, these challenges have not only enhanced their effectiveness as educators but also deepened their commitment to helping students learn from their own mistakes.

We encourage all participants to contribute to an inviting and supportive environment, where open dialogue and shared experiences can flourish. We look forward to an insightful discussion.
