Teaching and Learning Services has sourced and acquired equipment for short term loans to instructors to help develop and teach your courses. Equipment is also available to teaching assistants (TAs) who, in their assignment of duties, are required to facilitate problem sessions, discussions and tutorials. Requests for TA equipment must come from the instructor.

Available Equipment
- Microsoft Surface Pro Windows Tablet PCs with keyboard and stylus: Recommended solution to record drawings, equations, formulas and annotations. More easily integrated into synchronous teaching tools as a digital whiteboard. Integrates well into Kaltura Personal Capture workflows.
- iPads with Apple Pencils: Useful to record drawings, equations, formulas. Can be integrated into a synchronous teaching model as a digital whiteboard. We do not recommend using the iPad in a Kaltura Personal Capture workflow – it should be used with other recording workflows.
- Document cameras: Useful for instructors who wish to capture problem solving on paper, record or show images in a book, hand samples or models.
- Web cameras
- Lapel microphones
- Headset microphones
- Data projectors
- DVD/Blu ray players
- Audio recorders
While this equipment is available to all instructors (faculty, contract instructors and lab coordinators), we ask that you carefully consider your needs and requirements before requesting equipment. There is a relatively limited supply and we want to ensure that we are able to provide equipment to those who need specific equipment and/or who are unable to secure their own equipment to support their approach to teaching.
For example, the Microsoft Surface Pro tablets, iPad with pencil and document cameras are particularly useful for instructors teaching in disciplines that require notation, formulas, equations and drawing/annotating diagrams. Additionally, if you already have a webcam or headset microphone, we ask that you carefully consider whether you need an additional webcam or microphone (some laptops like the Surface Pro come with excellent webcams in the device).
Prior to lending equipment, we may ask for clarification on the request to ensure that the equipment requested is the ideal solution and to help manage the limited supply of equipment.
