Would you like assistance or feedback on the design of your course, whether it is face-to-face, online or HyFlex? As instructional designers, we can work with you to address pedagogical as well as technical aspects of the following:

Overall and Cohesive Course Design
- Provide feedback on a course’s syllabus/outline and learning outcomes
- Align a course’s learning outcomes with the assessments, activities and content
- Align a course’s outcomes and content with program/departmental outcomes and curriculum map
- Support instructors’ work to materialize their course design within Brightspace and other TLS-supported educational technology tools
- Provide an inclusive course environment through
- Designing a variety of ways for students to interact, be assessed and consume course material (Universal Design for Learning or UDL)
- Diversifying course content (and other EDI improvements)
- Ensuring accessibility of a course’s PowerPoint or Word documents, videos, text or Brightspace course
- Develop templates for Brightspace, content, PowerPoint slides, etc.
- Optimize the organization of a course’s content and assessments in Brightspace
- Improve visual design and/or create a custom look/brand for a course
Course Assessments, Activities and Content
- Strengthen students’ engagement with course content, course instructor and each other
- Select or design effective AI-aware assessments to monitor student learning and provide ongoing feedback, evaluate student learning and performance at the end of a course/unit, and incorporate student media creation and other innovative strategies
- Design or improve multiple choice questions
- Design experiential learning activities
- Design student group work and peer assessment
- Create engaging course content and activities via lesson planning
- Integrate Collaborative Indigenous Learning Bundles, library support or FUSION modules into a course
- Incorporate student feedback checkpoints
- Create a communication plan
- Incorporate active and experiential learning activities
- Facilitate students’ academic skills development and/or transition to university
- Select and maximize use of digital tools within Brightspace (i.e., quizzes, discussion forums, gradebook, rubrics, learning analytics) and a select group of instructional digital tools external to, or integrated with, Brightspace (i.e., Zoom, Kaltura lecture recording tools, cuPortfolio, H5P, Wooclap, Feedback Fruits)
